Widely known by its popular name "Nishi Arai Daishi," this temple bustled during the Edo period as a place for women to pray for protection from misfortune. It is counted as one of the three major Kanto Yakuyoke Daishi (temples for warding off evil), along with Kawasaki Daishi in Kanagawa Prefecture and Kōfukuji Temple in Chiba Prefecture.
