Sengakuji(泉岳寺)

 🛕

Located in Takanawa, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Sengakuji is a Soto Zen Buddhist temple known as the burial place of the 47 Ronin.

It was founded in 1612 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, and after being destroyed by the Great Kanto Fire, it was relocated and rebuilt in its current location.

There are two head temples of the Soto Zen sect, one is Eiheiji Temple in Fukui Prefecture, founded by Zen Master Dogen, and the other is Sojiji Temple in Yokohama Tsurumi.
